This question has come up before and the answer is that the Savage has been in continuous production from 1986, but for whatever reason, the bike was not marketed in the USA between 1989 and 1994. Suzuki Japan have a massive range of products, so the local importers decide which models will be offered for sale in a particular country.
Mine is most definatly a 1993 5 speed, UK specification Savage. The Savage was part of the Suzuki range offered for sale in England from 1987 until about 1997.
